Sruthi School of Liturgical Music | |
Sruthi School of Liturgical Music was founded in 1988 as a part of Orthodox Theological Seminary with a view to introduce a systemized and organized music into worship of Malankara Church.
The school began its functioning with an informal inauguration by His Holiness Moran Baselios Mar Thoma Mathews I, The Catholicos of East and Metropolitan of Malankara in September, 1988. Its first programme was to conduct an orientation programme for music enthusiasts during the Onam vacation of 1988. The programme was a grand success with 50 students completing the course in the basics of music, such as theory, musical notes, Organ and liturgical music. The project proved immensely helpful in assisting the local parishes to organize the Holy Service.
